If you’ve thought about taking your tablet in for iPad repair in Frisco TX because of a battery life problem, you may want to think first about how you’re using your iPad.  Sometimes the way we use our devices can make a big difference in how long the battery lasts before it needs to be charged, especially in newer devices that you don’t think should be losing power quickly.  Here are some ways you can extend the life of your iPad battery:

1.  Turn off your WiFi and cellular data settings.   If you’re not accessing the internet via Safari or using apps that require the internet, go to ‘Settings’ and turn them off.  Continually searching for and attempting to connect to WiFi or cellular network towers drains the battery.

2.  Turn down the brightness.   Your iPad has a massive pixel count so the screen is the primary cause of battery drainage.  When the brightness is turned up, it drains your battery even faster.  Go to ‘Settings’ then ‘Wallpapers & Brightness.’  Turn off ‘Auto-Brightness’ and drag the brightness slider as far left as possible to reduce battery usage but still make the device usable.

3.  Turn off the vibrating.   If you get a lot of text messages and phone calls, a constantly-vibrating phone will cause you to lose battery power quickly.  Go to ‘Settings’ then ‘Sounds’ to turn off the vibration options.

4.  Avoid using games and other apps that drain power.   Some apps use less power than others.  Apps that let you read a newspaper online won’t drain as much power as watching movies or playing 3D games, which are a bad idea if your battery power is low.

5.  Turn off app refresh and updating.   Apps can refresh in the background and update automatically without you telling them to.  To preserve battery life, turn both off.  Go to ‘Settings’ then ‘General’ then ‘Background App Refresh’ to change app refresh settings.  To turn off auto-updating, go to ‘Settings’ then ‘iTunes & App Store.’

6.  Tone down your visual effects.   Parallax or motion effects that make your wallpaper less static are a big drain on your battery.  Go to ‘Settings’ then ‘General’ then ‘Accessibility’ then ‘Reduce Motion’ to turn parallax off.

7.  Turn your phone off.   If you’re in a situation where you can’t charge your iPad and you want to preserve as much battery life as possible, turn it completely off by holding down the ‘Sleep’ button then drag across to ‘Slide Power Off’.
